Privacy notice
Who receives what you send us, why, where it is stored, and how to have it removed.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Simple Legal Consulting, operating this site as Tierra Firme, at Futura Business and Plaza, Oficina A105, Lindora, Santa Ana, San José, Costa Rica. Contact for any privacy matter: hd@simple-legal.consulting.
What we collect
Only what you type into a form or send us directly: your name, email address, telephone number if you provide one, and the property information you choose to share, such as location, area, folio reference, plans, intended use and closing dates. We do not buy contact lists and we do not profile visitors for advertising.
Why we use it
To answer your enquiry, to assess whether the property raises legal or technical issues, and to prepare a proposal or an engagement. The legal basis is your request for information and, once we are engaged, the performance of that engagement. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
If you have a portal account
Clients with an open file receive an account: name, email and a password stored only as a salted hash. The portal shows the milestones of your file and the documents shared with you, and lets you upload your own documents. Files live in private storage and are served only to the signed-in owner of that file. Account data is kept while the engagement and its professional retention period last, and the session cookie expires after thirty days.
Measurement
With your consent, Google Analytics 4 records page views: path, language, device class, country and referring host, with the IP anonymised. It does not load before you accept. If you decline, we only use the first-party counters described above.
Who else sees it
The form is delivered by email to the firm's inbox using a transactional email provider acting as a processor. The booking calendar is operated by TidyCal, and the map and review widgets link to Google. Those providers process data under their own terms, which we recommend you read if you use those functions. Where a matter requires a surveyor, inspector, architect, notary or escrow agent, we share only what that professional needs for the task.
Where it is stored and for how long
Enquiries arrive by email and are kept in the firm's mail system for as long as needed to answer them, and afterwards in the matter file if an engagement follows. Files are retained for the period required by professional practice and tax obligations. Form submissions are also recorded in a database hosted on Cloudflare, which the firm reaches only through its admin panel and which is not indexed by search engines. If no engagement follows, you may ask us to delete the correspondence and we will do so unless a legal obligation requires us to keep it.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising cookies. Third-party embeds, such as the booking calendar and the map links, may set their own cookies when you interact with them. Details are in the cookies notice.
Your rights
Under Costa Rican data protection law (Ley 8968) you may request access to your information, its correction, its deletion where no obligation requires retention, and you may object to a specific use. Write to hd@simple-legal.consulting with the subject "Data request" and we will respond within the legal term.
Security and limits
We use ordinary technical measures to protect correspondence, but email is not a sealed channel. Do not send identity documents, bank details or anything you would not want in an inbox until we have agreed a secure method for the engagement.
This notice is a working draft prepared for the site. It should be reviewed by counsel against the firm's final engagement terms before publication.
